Hitting my 1984 Jack Nicklaus Muirfield persimmon 5-wood

June 11, 2020- by Steven E. Greer

I had this set of MacGregor Jack Nicklaus Muirfield persimmon woods in the 1980’s when I was in high school. I was a flipper and could rarely hit them. When I did, I hit the driver 280-yards, which was far back then. So, I carried it about 250-yards.

With my new and improved non-flipping swing. I thought I’d give them a try for the first time in decades. On my first try, I smacked a good one.

I think it would be good for professional golf to go back to wood clubs and the shorter tees. It is much more interesting to watch. It is more enjoyable to play too. I am so tired of driver-then-wedge golf.
